Domino 8 and OS

When we start the installation of Domino 6.00 , we install it on a Linux Redhat supported ditribution. After that, there is new minor release 6.01,etc ...
We have made the update (and we don't verify on each release what is the OS supported. At one moment, we have a problem and the response of support is: "the OS is not supported with 6.5.4".
With Domino 8, will it be the same? In the enterprise, it 's not very easy to update OS and APPS.
